The St. Louis Diabetes Coalition invites the community and its members to attend the 2011 winter meeting on Thursday, February 10.
Saint Louis University welcomes the Coalition to the Il Monastero Conference Center, a newly-renovated facility conveniently located about 1 block east of campus on Olive Street. Free parking is available in the Center's private off-street lot.
The dinner program will feature a presentation by Drs. Michael Elliott and Garry Tobin who will provide first release of results from Diabetes Network of St. Louis (DNSL), a three-year program in which trained lay volunteers led diabetes education groups in community settings, like churches and community centers. DNSL was made possible by a partnership including St. Louis Diabetes Coalition, Washington University Diabetes Center, Community Health in Partnership Services, and Institute for Family Medicine. Funding was provided by Missouri Foundation for Health. Joan McGinnis, MSN, CDE (Director of Education) and Dr. Eric Armbrecht will announce new and exciting initiatives for 2011.
The dinner program will also honor the volunteers who gave their time and expertise to lead DNSL's diabetes education groups which served more than 450 people with diabetes since 2008. Come meet and thank the generous people who helped others with diabetes set and achieve personal health improvement goals.

St.Louis Diabetes Coalition
The St. Louis Diabetes Coalition is a Missouri non-profit
corporation (501c3 tax exempt) established in December 1998 by representatives
from various managed care organizations, hospitals, physician groups,
government health agencies, the American Diabetes Association, and
pharmaceutical companies. It was created
to improve diabetes awareness and quality of care through an integration of
efforts and resources. As the coalition evolved, other groups joined and
embraced its mission to “work collaboratively to improve diabetes care across
the community.” Over the past decade, the
Coalition has earned local and national recognition for its efforts to empower
